Embedded Systems Australia recently held their embedded systems road mapping workshop. This workshop was to determine where the ESA needs to put it's energy so that Australia becomes a world leader in embedded systems technology. There were representatives from all facets of embedded systems including mining, medical and environmental.
Over the last few months Automated Test Systems, in association with Nicta's education outreach program and ESA education committee, has been negioating to produce a embedded programming course in conjunction with the National Computer Science School. Well It now looks like it's definitely going to happen. Approval has been given by the the NCSS and now the hard work begins.
This years LCA was again a very good massively sold out conference. Stuart Middleton's robotics talk was especially good. The psychological “ownership” of cute robotics was especially eye-opening. This was the most commented on paper at the mini embedded conference with the acceptance of the hard core embedded programmers to the views of a artist using robotics.
Automated Test Systems is again organising the embedded mini conference for the annual Linux Australia Conference (LCA) http://www.linux.conf.au/. This year we are breaking from tradition and we have invited a performing artist to give us a perspective on robotics from the other side, as a user of robotics.
